The International Rugby Board and Australian Rugby Union are proudly staging Rugby World Cup 2003 in Australia

ACU National honours Australian Rugby

Australian Catholic University’s (ACU National) Schools of Exercise Science congratulates the ARU and the Australian Rugby Community on its success in hosting the 5th Rugby World Cup.

“Exercise Science at ACU National, like Australian Rugby, is concerned with excellence and the dedicated pursuit of knowledge about human performance. It is a knowledge based on both a thorough analysis of the 'big picture' and patient development of the underlying skills and techniques needed to pursue the insight that puts us both ahead of the pack,” said ACU National Dean of Health Sciences, Professor Elizabeth Cameron-Traub.

More than two hundred talented school leavers and committed mature students enter the University’s exercise science undergraduate programs each year. The programs are offered on the University’s campuses in Sydney and Melbourne.

Many graduates from the Bachelor of Exercise Science program complete an additional honours year, which leads on to study for the Master of Exercise Science or the Doctor of Philosophy.

Research at ACU National has focused on elite levels, with many graduates moving into careers working with elite sports groups.

ACU National commenced as a university in 1991, the same year that Australian Rugby capped its emergence from many lean years, by raising aloft the William Webb Ellis trophy and becoming world champions for the first time.

Today, like rugby's Wallabies, ACU National is widely recognised in the world of Exercise Science - both nationally and internationally.

The University welcomes overseas students for undergraduate and postgraduate study.
