and Business Ambassador,
and 1997-2001 Coach of the Australian Wallabies

Foreword

Rod Macqueen

Having been involved in Rugby both as a player and coach, I have a long-standing passion for the game. I have been privileged to work with some of Rugby’s more gifted athletes.

Some of my fondest memories are drawn from my tenure as national coach of the Australian Wallabies, from 1997 to 2001. We shared some wonderful moments together and great successes as a team. I believe there is no greater honour bestowed upon a sportsperson than to represent their country in international competition.

Sport and business
In the world of sport, the desire to win, dedication and preparation are key determinants for success. These elements also apply in determining business success, and are critical to seizing opportunities within the
global market place.

My corporate sector experience has been drawn from the running of my own business and, more recently, as a board member of several international corporations. It is from these experiences that I have come to appreciate the close links between the sport of Rugby and the world of international business.

Rugby Business Club Australia
In October 2003, the international community will focus its attention upon Australia as we welcome the world’s third largest sporting event, Rugby World Cup 2003. I have again been provided an opportunity to represent my country, this time on a much larger playing field.
