Perth from the Swan River

City pleasures

Western Australia’s capital of Perth sits beside the widest stretch of the meandering Swan River. Here you’ll find all the essential ingredients for a great holiday – some of the country’s best beaches, plenty of nightlife, bustling markets, inner-city parks, outdoor dining and amazing marine adventures. And getting around is simple – there’s a free public transport service within the city centre.

For an awesome view across Perth’s cityscape and river, head to the vast gardens and bushland of Kings Park. In September/ October each year a wildflower festival takes place as this park bursts into bloom, along with many areas outside the city.

Shopping in Perth is fun and affordable. You’ll find department and chain stores as well as chic designer outlets, all with a blend of design influences – Aboriginal, Asian, African, European.

Within minutes of the city centre are Perth’s beaches, while the Swan River hosts a range of water sports, and offers more than 50 kilometres of riverside pathways for walking and cycling.
