The Great Barrier Reef starts at Lady Elliot Island (pictured top) and Lady Musgrave Island – known as the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Bundaberg’s beautiful Coral Coast offers you the closest access to the splendour and wonder of Lady Elliot Island and Lady Musgrave Island and Lagoon, where pristine waters and bright coral reefs contain some of the most diverse fish and coral species anywhere in the world.
From November to February, green and loggerhead turtles nest on Lady Elliot Island, and guests of all ages can experience this under the careful guidance of turtle rangers. From February to April, the end of the nesting season, thousands of baby turtles push through their sand nest to the sea. This occurs only metres from the resort beachfront balconies so can be observed at close quarters by all.
