The airport is going from strength to strength, experiencing outstanding growth in international passenger numbers making it Australia’s fastest growing international airport. The airport welcomed more than 2.5 million passengers through its gates in 2003/2004 and is looking to grow that figure into the future.

Passengers flying into Gold Coast Airport are greeted by the warm Queensland sun, before stepping into a brand new terminal that looks more like a resort than an airport building. Bright colours, resort-style shops, alfresco dining areas and friendly customer service staff, create an inviting atmosphere reflecting the ambience and hospitality the Gold Coast is famous for. A multi-million dollar upgrade to the Qantas end of the terminal building was also completed in 2003, contributing to an overall $20 million refurbishment of the whole airport terminal.

Australian Airlines flies daily from Japan via Cairns direct to Gold Coast Airport using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 270 seats. There are also many domestic flights available with Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Blue airlines to and from Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Adelaide, Cairns and Canberra.
