Vast areas of Australia are protected as national parks

Glistening beaches... towering rainforest... outback plains – Australia’s national parks and wildlife sanctuaries offer stunning natural beauty.

In Australia you can still get away from it all. Around 7.5% of Australia’s continental land area is protected as national parks and other conservation areas, with still more in Australia’s external territories, notably the Australian Antarctic Territories. Discover the vast parks and wetlands of Australia’s Top End, the tropical rainforests and protected coral reefs of Queensland, and the dazzling springtime wildflowers of Victoria’s Grampians and Western Australia’s south-west region.

Even on the doorsteps of our biggest cities, areas of national park offer clean and green refuge from the bustle of modern life.
