Curtin's Department of Petroleum Engineering leads the way in providing world-class education, training, research and development to the oil and gas industries. Considered the preferred centre of petroleum engineering education in the Asia-Pacific region, graduates are more than highly trained; they are highly sought after. Master of Petroleum Engineering and Master of Petroleum Well Engineering graduates can look forward to professional careers in the upstream oil and gas industry. Additionally, Curtin accredits coursework from Shell's existing world-wide training program and offers a number of Curtin specialty units to Shell employees. Successful completion of these units entitles Shell employees to graduate with a Master of Petroleum Technology degree from Curtin University of Technology. The Department of Petroleum Engineering also operates an active and far-reaching Research and Development program with projects covering everything from natural gas storage and transportation to intelligent drilling and reservoir up-scaling. Of special note is their state of the art core-flooding equipment that enables investigation of fluid flow in porous media at reservoir conditions. This equipment also has PVT capability. Recent contracts with Iran's Petroleum University of Technology and the National Iranian Oil Company, along with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Pertamina Training and Consulting, a major Indonesian oil and gas training provider, have helped cement Curtin's position as a world leader in Petroleum Engineering Education, Training and Research & Development. |
