Thousands of international students enrol in private tertiary education and training institutions across Australia each year. Business, English language studies, natural medicine, art and design, hospitality and tourism and technology courses are all popular choices. Many courses offer pathways for entry to university degree programs. All private tertiary providers have Australian Government accreditation and are registered education and training organisations. Quality assurance in course content, staffing and vocational relevance is guaranteed by stringent and regular reviews by government education authorities. With more than 700 members the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET) is the peak national industry association for private tertiary education providers in Australia. Members are eligible to participate in the ACPET Tuition Assurance Scheme, which guarantees that students are able to complete their study at another approved provider should the original provider be unable to continue to deliver the course. Members are also required to sign and abide by the ACPET Code of Ethics. ACPET membership indicates an educational institution of the highest standard and a focus on student success and welfare.
