The Australian College of English, affectionately known as 'ACE' amongst students and working holiday makers has campuses in Bondi, Manly Beach and the city, all popular spots. The school runs courses in General Intensive English, Cambridge Exam preparation and IELTS preparation and English teacher courses (TESOL) amongst others.

The General Intensive Course concentrates on speaking, listening and pronunciation skills at the Elementary level and from the intermediate level students can choose from a variety of elective subjects including conversation, grammar, vocabulary, Australian studies and English for movies and discussion. There is a maximum of 15 students per class and head teachers often conduct class observations and teacher training sessions.

ACE also runs short courses for school groups every year which allow students to experience real English and the Australian lifestyle.

The Executive Director of ACE, Mr. Araki who is originally from Nagoya, has a strong attachment to Aichi prefecture and has taken care of many students from there.

When choosing a school although price is consideration, criteria such as government accreditation, facilities and the quality of the teachers should also be taken into account. ACE has a varied curriculum and five campuses which students can move between as a new environment is often helpful in maintaining enthusiasm when studying. Students are carefully tested and counseled to ensure that they are placed in a class which suits their English level and allows them to progress as quickly as possible. I studied in the general course, the business course and the IELTS Preparation course at ACE. You can study reading and writing in Japan but only overseas do you get many chances to speak. Because I felt I could come to understand real English and also because the weather is good and it is safe I chose Australia. I really like the on-line self study software and other study software available at ACE. The teachers are really friendly and there are lots of activities to enjoy. Also there are many students from Europe and South America so you can make friends with people from all over the world which is very precious to me.
