Kiwis flightless? Opportunities throughout the
Kiwi nation are soaring on the back of innovation.

Innovation and ingenuity are New Zealand hallmarks,
whether the nation is designing and building winning yachts, breeding
thoroughbred horses, breaking box office records, introducing sustainable
forestry or wowing the world with wine. New Zealand ranks ahead
of Japan, Canada, China, Australia, Singapore and Korea as an international
leader in innovation. It has a historic stock of innovators with
a can do approach: Kiwis split the atom, conquered Mount
Everest, reduced the time it takes to brew beer with continuous
fermentation, were involved in establishing the structure of DNA
and, some argue, were the first to fly.
Located in the Southern Hemisphere, New Zealand consists
of two large islands, the North Island and South Island, plus several
smaller ones, of which Stewart Island is the largest. The main islands
are separated by Cook Strait, while to the north and east lies the
Pacific Ocean. To its west the Tasman Sea separates New Zealand
from its closest neighbour Australia, while the frozen continent
of Antarctica is 2200km to its south. New Zealands main centres
are Auckland and Wellington (its capital), both located in the North
Island. Christchurch is the South Islands largest city.

The BNZTC
The British New Zealand Trade Council (BNZTC) brings together
the manufacturing, commercial and financial sectors interested
in developing bilateral commercial relations between New Zealand
and the United Kingdom. With branches in Auckland, Wellington
and Christchurch, the Council provides a useful forum on business
practices, regulatory problems and general cultural issues
affecting trade. The cornerstone of the Councils activities
is close collaboration with the High Commission in Wellington
and the British Consulate-General in Auckland.
