English Partnerships provides an essential online service for investors in Australia and worldwide.

As part of a bid for international investment, England’s national force for property-led regeneration and development English Partnerships has designed an international service to provide businesses investing in the UK with up-to-date information on available land sites online.

www.englishsites.com
The website www.englishsites.com was relaunched in January 2001, and in the last year has had some one million hits and more than 3000 registered users, attracting interest from both the UK and overseas.

Featuring approximately 250 strategic sites throughout England, the website provides detailed information on each site, including regional data, sectoral analysis and links to partner organisations such as each of the Regional Development Agencies (RDAs). Developers, property agencies, RDAs and local authorities are continually submitting sites.

Accurate and detailed
According to Sarah Lord, English Partnerships’ International Marketing and Database Manager, there are no other sites on the internet which give would-be investors and developers such a detailed and comprehensive service.

“Several months before the site was relaunched we conducted an extensive updating and marketing exercise to ensure that the details on the sites were accurate, and we asked our existing users what they wanted to see on the site,” she says. “The site was then redesigned, to include a compass navigator and a simplified search engine to assist with navigation around the site, making it more user friendly.

“Customer satisfaction is important to us, so one year on we again undertook a major survey to see how effective the new look site was. I’m very pleased to say that 92% of users that responded found the site a useful tool for new and up-to-date information. Further improvements to the website are now planned.”

The website is continuously updated to ensure that all information is current and that English Partnerships can stay in closer touch with the database’s registered users.

Positive response
According to Sarah Lord, the website www.englishsites.com has become an invaluable tool to property professionals, developers and growing companies. The links created with businesses both within the UK and internationally has been phenomenal.

“We’ve been more than delighted with the positive response,” she says. “With more sites and more information, we believe that www.englishsites.com gives a unique property service within England.

“It not only recognises the property requirements of developers and expanding or relocating firms, it also gives land owners the ideal forum for marketing their sites, nationally and internationally.”

Star sites
A regular feature of the site is an updated ‘star sites’ section highlighting the sites that are especially attractive due to high levels of incentives or particularly strategic location.
For example, two star sites currently featured are:
Glasshoughton. This 26-hectare site is located in England’s Yorkshire and Humberside county. Being adjacent to the M62 motorway it has good links to the local services and transport facilities.
Telford Science and Technology Park. Located in one of the UK’s fastest-growing business locations, the Park combines excellent telecommunications infrastructure with good university links. At present some six hectares of land is available.
Other key ‘star sites’ include The Royal Docks Business Park in London and Estuary Business Park in Liverpool, in England’s North West.

A key agency
English Partnerships is the national catalyst for property-led regeneration and development. It is a key agency for delivering the urban renaissance and helping the Government meet its targets for accommodating household growth on brownfield land. Several of English Partnerships’ programmes feature in the UK Government’s Urban White Paper, including the Millennium Communities and Urban Regeneration Companies. With other initiatives such as the £385m National Coalfields Programme and a land portfolio of almost 6000 hectares, one of English Partnerships’ main roles is to help deliver regeneration projects and programmes across the English regions.

Proactive ideas
English Partnerships works in partnership with central and local government, the Regional Development Agencies, the private sector and other partners to bring about sustainable economic regeneration and development. As an influential and proactive organisation, English Partnerships utilises innovative ideas and approaches to help create new jobs, new homes and new investment. English Partnerships promotes good urban design and is committed to supporting local communities in improving their environments by creating quality places for people to live, work and socialise.
