Abbotsleigh has nurtured champions since 1885.
Abbotsleigh
is the leading Australian girls-only school for the 21st century.
Founded in 1885 by the redoubtable Miss Marian Clarke, the School
has a long and proud heritage of educating strong women of formidable
accomplishment by providing academic, sporting and a host of other,
often international challenges.
As Abbotsleighs Headmistress since 1996, American-born
Mrs Judith Wheeldon, BS(Wis), MEd(Syd), FACE, likes to declare,
Abbotsleigh girls can do anything!
And they do.
Powerhouse of achievement
A former Abbotsleigh girl won a coveted Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford
in December 2001, while former students have been Fulbright Scholars
too.

World citizens
The Abbotsleigh philosophy is not just about winning for its own
sake. The School nurtures students in the Christian values of tolerance,
compassion and integrity, encouraging each girl to achieve a personal
best in everything she attempts. The School emphasises in its statement
of purpose that it helps each girl to be an independent, constructive
and compassionate world citizen with a will to serve others.
